Common Questions about CRBC

What Style of Preaching should I expect?

At CRBC our preaching can be described as expository. We primarily preach/teach through books of the Bible and occasionally sprinkle in a few short topical series when needed.

Is CRBC a reformed church?

We do not take a specific theological position on the issue at hand. To do so, we would have to selectively focus on certain passages of scripture while ignoring others, which we believe is not appropriate. Rather than relying on man-made systems or theological theories to interpret scripture, we choose to focus on preaching the text and accepting the mystery of God's ways. We recognize God's authority and control when it is evident in the text, and we also acknowledge the reality of free will when the text suggests it. While our views may not align with either of the two theological camps, our primary goal is to teach the text and avoid unproductive debates. We say these things with humility, recognizing that there are some mysteries that are beyond human understanding. Ultimately, our mission is to create disciples and send them out into the world, and we do not see how this particular debate affects that mission.

What are CRBC services like?

At CRBC we strive for excellence in simplicity. We believe the gospel is simple and want our services to reflect this. We sing both modern worship songs as well as hymns. We prioritize theological richness over style and performance. We believe that the gathering of God's people is a unique expression of our faith. Sundays are the one time a week when we gather together to proclaim the goodness of God together. For this reason music is carefully selected for its theological richness, truth, and singability for the average person. We want every person to engage with God by using their At CRBC, we strive to achieve excellence through simplicity. We believe that the gathering of God's people is a special expression of our faith, and Sundays are the only time we come together to proclaim God's goodness in unison. Therefore, we carefully select music that is theologically rich, truthful, and easy to sing for everyone. We want every person to participate in engaging with God, using their voice, and not just observing the musically talented individuals on stage.

How do I join the church?

There are two steps to joining CRBC. The first step is to attend one of our "Next Steps" classes. In this class we will explain the beliefs and ministry philosophy of CRBC. Once the class has been completed we ask that you either write out your testimoney of how you came to believe in Jesus Christ as savior or schedule a time to meet with the pastor to share your salvation story. Once these steps have been completed you will be presented on a Sunday morning before dismissal for membership.
